At Idahound we strive to make the best dog food in the world. We live by our ingredients: grass-fed animals that we source 100% in Idaho and fresh produce coming from only the Northwest. In addition, we try to stay close as to Nature as we can by keeping processing to a minimum. No heat treatments and no preservatives — just good ol’ fashioned, species-appropriate raw foods.

We want your dog to be the best hound he or she can be, happy and healthy. Below are a few testimonials from customers whose dogs are examples of the Idahound effect.

From Erin Resko and Benji Hill, Bellevue residents:

We love Idahound!  We feed the raw dog food, tripe & ewe chews to both our dogs.  We have a 3 year old male Griffon & and 10 year old female yellow lab.  Both dogs are thriving on the diet and we couldn’t be happier.

When Grizzly, our yellow lab was 6 she started to have some health issues, her arthritis in her back was acting up to the point where we could only hunt her for short periods of time and she could no longer go cross country skiing, running or jump on the bed.  She acted depressed and had a consistent rash on her face (like eczema) that looked like little scabs.  The icing on the cake was she could no longer keep her food down.  She was on a grain free kibble diet and would throw up her food every time she ate.  It was at this point we started her on the real stuff, homegrown, local, raw, Idahound dog food.  The results were pretty instant (within a month).

Fast forward 4 years and Grizzly no longer gets the rashes, she lost about 10 pounds and looks amazing.  Her arthritis is totally managed, she can still hunt with the best of them, go for a cross-country ski or run, jumps on the bed and actually likes playing with her brother (Bruiser the Griffon).  She is visibly a happier dog, she no longer throws up her food and she no longer has the rash.  All thanks to Idahound.

Using Idahound is the best decision we ever made.  I truly feel like it will keep our dogs young, happy and able to live a long pain-free, disease-free life of adventure.

From Margaret Bishop, Ketchum resident:

“My dogs had been on a raw diet for several years when I moved to Idaho. The shipping costs for raw would have been prohibitive, so I tried feeding kibble and canned. After several months and two different brands of high quality, grain-free kibble, the poor dogs had chronic diarrhea, no appetite, and very lackluster energy and enthusiasm. I was so happy when I discovered Idahound. They transitioned to it over a week and I saw their appetites return, diarrhea clear up, and energy levels soar.

One of my dogs (Turtle, left) has a degenerated disc in her back, as well as a partially torn ligament in her knee. After only a week of laser and physical therapy she was once again sound and running around. The vet told me that she responded so quickly to the treatment because of the raw diet. My dogs test positive for several tick borne diseases, yet have never been sick. So they have been exposed, but because of the raw diet, they don’t actually get the disease. They all like the Idahound better than any other food and they eat with such enjoyment and enthusiasm. We are delighted and I’ll never try feeding another food!”

From Chris Cey, Bellevue resident:

“Bert (British Pointer, top right) used to have dry very poky hair. It was unpleasant to pet him. Once on the raw diet he saw immediate improvement. He had more oil in his coat, making for softer, more flexible hair.

Much more importantly, though, he is a very hard running dog and he would have bloody stools while hunting. I was told by a vet that this was ok – the result of his intestines being aggravated by kibble. This was not ok. He was bleeding inside. I have not seen a bloody stool in 4 years thanks to the raw diet. We also had dentals done twice a year to get the tartar off his teeth. Now he has immaculate white teeth by eating raw and getting a raw meaty bone every week.

Recently, I have started feeding him tripe. I swear it has made him a happier and friendlier dog. He never used to ask for pets but now he does. I simply am 100% convinced this is the way to feed a dog. He is 10 years old in the photo, runs like a mad man for 4-5 hours and doesn’t look like is going to slow down for awhile.”

From Jen Smith, Ketchum resident:

“Quinn (left) never liked eating prior to Idahound. Her dry food would sit there until she was very hungry. I tried every brand and gluten free options too. Now, she politely looks at me and licks her lips in the morning and evening. She eats right away and I know she loves it. I would highly recommend Idahound to any dog owner.”

From Jeff Davis, Hailey resident:

“I am so pleased that we have found a great local raw food for our pugs Rocko and Brutus (bottom left). After coming off this winter, Brutus was a lot heavier and we wanted to start him eating healthier and cutting down on the processed food, as our family has done. We found Idahound and what a difference it has made in our pugs but especially Brutus! We bought the raw food for them both. Brutus, in particular, has a lot more energy and has also cut his weight down. The one thing we also noticed is that his breathe smells much better.  This is the best investment we have ever made to our pugs, who now eat well, like the rest of our family. I highly recommend Idahound to anyone who has dogs and want to make a difference in their lives.”

From Leslie Manookian, Ketchum resident:

“We have two dogs, one who has been on a raw diet for awhile now and whose arthritis was completely cured by a raw diet, despite the vet telling us he’d have to be on anti-inflammatories and paid medicine for the rest of his life at only 6 years old. He started on Idahound when it first became available and has more energy than he has had in years! Our other dog never cared much about food till he tasted Idahound – now he gobbles up his food like it’s his last meal. He’s never been happier or healthier.”
